Finding Inspiration

Inspiration came from a visit to The Tile Shop in Montgomeryville. I instantly fell in love with the Montmartre tile featuring a beautiful quadrafoil design in eggshell white with gray accents. The pattern was perfect for adding some texture without overwhelming the space.

Around this time, I also discovered the Tilden flush mount light by Visual Comfort, with its antique nickel finish, which helped bring everything together.

Design Choices: Colors and Cabinetry

I wanted the walls to complement the tile while adding dimension to the room. After much deliberation, I chose Sherwin Williams-Software for the walls and African Gray for the ceiling. For the cabinetry, I opted for Green Forest Cabinets through Reico, which offered both sturdiness and affordability in a Blanco finish.

FINISHES:

For the hardware, I went with Amerock Mushroom cabinet knobs in a smooth nickel finish. I wanted the countertops to flow with the existing granite on my kitchen island, so I found a Steel Grey Leathered Granite remnant, which was both practical and elegant.

Sentimental Touches

Sometimes it’s the little things that make a space feel truly personal. I found an ironing board rack on Etsy that would fit perfectly into the room. A visit to Keystone Reclaimed Lumber led me to the perfect remnant wood, which I was able to sand and stain for both the iron rack and a feature shelf above the standalone cabinet.

I accessorized the shelf with bud vases that I had saved from floral arrangements I made for my sister’s wedding. Every time I see them, I’m reminded of that beautiful day, and it brings a smile to my face.

The Final Transformation

This laundry room was once an eyesore, and I dreaded spending time there. Now, with the new organization, color palette, and personal touches, I actually enjoy doing laundry. It’s a space that now has more meaning and brings me happiness every time I walk in.
